What would make me different from a handyman or another Tile Repair Man? What would you think? Well for one thing I am a third generation Tile Repair Specialist. I learned from my father who started working as a tile repair man at age 16 and finally quit at age 79. He was strong as a bull. I do not have his stamina but I do have his tile repair knowledge and tile installation know-how.
It all started with my grandfather who arrived in America in the 1900′s. He lived in Brooklyn New York and worked as a tile setter. Things were rough in those days and my father was the oldest son of nine children. At age 16 my father had to quit school to work with my grandfather to help support his large family. As time passed on, my father and grandfather worked as tile setters and started installing tiles for the train subway stations being built throughout Brooklyn and New York City.
As my father grew older, he was approached by a man named Nathan who had an idea of selling hot dogs and fries in Coney Island section of Brooklyn, New York. Nathan wanted his restaurant to be outstanding from any other hot dog place so he hired my father to install tiles on his walls, floor and ceiling of what is known today as the Original ( first store) Nathan’s of Coney Island . Over 75 years has past and the wall tiles, floor tiles, and ceiling tiles are still there in the Original Nathan’s of Coney Island. Not a bad tile installation job that has lasted all this time!

When my father started repairing tile and installing tile at age 16, there were no showers yet! As time passed, shower bodies were installed, giving the home owner the option of taking a bath or shower. The problem with a shower is water splashing all over; and the steam vapor from a hot shower forming water on the walls and ceiling. This situation caused mildew to form on the ceiling and walls around the tub area. So dad had an idea. He would lower the ceiling above the tub area and install tiles on all the walls going up and around the tub and on the ceiling in the tub area. This would make it easier for the home owner to clean the tub area after each shower and prevented mildew from forming on the tile work.
Dad was a great man in the tile repair and installation business but he never wanted to work behind a desk. He was an hands-on person who loved to take his artistic abilities and convert a bathroom into a showcase beauty.
So now I come along, a third generation tile repair man. I learned from the best and I have my father’s tile repair and installation artistic abilities. In order to have knowledge, you have to learn knowledge from a source. That is the difference between a handyman and a tile repair specialist. I’m Nick the Tile Man, originally from Brooklyn New York and now living in Queens New York.

Nick and his assistant George just recently completed and laid new floor tiles in my kitchen and outer hallway…The job took approximately 1 week to complete..It was done with complete proficiency and the final product looks outstanding. Nick and his assistant George, were not only neat but were punctual, reliable , professional and above all courteous. I would highly recommend his services to anyone that is looking to have new tiles installed in their home.
My Fiancee Bill and I wanted to have a new floor put down in our kitchen and our hallway. We went to a place and picked out porcelain tiles that we thought would look nice in our kitchen. We went online to find someone that would be able to install them and found Nick. We called him and set up a meeting with him. After meeting with him, we decided that we were going to book him to install our tiles. Work started shortly after that meeting and all I can say is what a superb job he and his partner George did. They were punctual, honest, neat, professional, reliable, and did a fabulous job. I recommend both of them very highly to anyone that wants a job well done. It was 2 weeks before Christmas and there were a few loose tiles in the dining room. With 15 people coming for Christmas Eve dinner, I call Nick to do a repair job.
WHAT A SURPRISE when I was told the entire floor was loose & had to come up & be re-installed.
